Project description
An established medium-sized enterprise is modernizing and standardizing its existing IT infrastructure. To this end, the company is seeking a hands-on system administrator (m/f/d) with a focus on servers and Linux who will take on operational tasks and actively support the further development of the platforms.
Responsibilities
- Administer, stabilize, and gradually modernize the existing server infrastructure while it remains in operation.
- Migrate legacy functions to modern virtual Debian servers and document the transition in a traceable manner.
- Manage Proxmox clusters, set up a test environment, and establish uniform virtualization standards.
- Develop server templates that enable the standardized and reliable deployment of new systems.
- Perform weekly patch management and support secure, stable operations.
- Manage monitoring with Checkmk, and analyze and resolve issues in the server and network environment.
- Assist with the migration of clients to a new network environment and represent the network team as needed.
- Commission Fortinet components and implement and administer ZVD/RADIUS solutions.
- Assist with on-site infrastructure work, document changes in a structured manner, and collaborate closely with internal functional areas.
Requirements
Must-have
These criteria are required for the project.
- Completed training as an IT specialist or a bachelor’s degree in computer science.
- Practical experience in server administration and a basic understanding of network technology.
- Practical knowledge of Linux, ideally Debian; strong technical aptitude and the ability to learn quickly.
- Experience with virtualization solutions and monitoring, preferably Checkmk.
- A structured, meticulous approach to work, as well as experience with documentation and working according to standards.
- German language skills at least at the C1 level and a willingness to be regularly present on-site.
Nice-to-have
Not required, but a plus for your application.
- Experience with Proxmox; knowledge of Hyper-V or comparable virtualization technologies is also welcome.
- Experience with Fortinet, RADIUS, and network environments.
- Knowledge of ISO 27001 and its requirements for IT operations.
