Project description
We are seeking a very senior Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) for an established bank in Belgium to take strategic and operational responsibility for information security. The role focuses on leading a 12-person security team, ensuring business continuity, and communicating professionally with the Board of Directors.
Responsibilities
- Overall responsibility for information security and cyber resilience at a regulated bank
- Leading, stabilizing, and further developing a 12-person security team amid challenging staffing conditions
- Ensuring business continuity, including the assessment of critical risks, emergency preparedness, and recovery planning
- Responsibility for the further development of Identity & Access Management, security architecture, data leakage prevention, and Blue Team activities
- Overseeing the follow-up on outstanding tasks and implementing a transparent task and action management system
- Structuring and prioritizing ongoing security projects, including robust project plans, milestones, and responsibilities
- Regular reporting to the Board of Directors and communication of complex security risks tailored to the audience
- Evaluation, selection, and implementation of appropriate IT security tools and optimization of the existing security landscape
- Coordination of relevant internal stakeholders and ensuring the implementation of regulatory and security-related requirements
Requirements
Must-have
These criteria are required for the project.
- Extensive experience as a CISO, Head of Information Security, or in a comparable strategic leadership role
- Proven leadership experience, ideally in banking, insurance, or other highly regulated environments
- Excellent command of French and business-level English
- Strong communication and presentation skills, including at the board level
- In-depth knowledge of IAM, security architecture, data leakage prevention, and Blue Team
- Experience with common IT security tools, including their evaluation, selection, and implementation
- Excellent skills in task management, project planning, prioritization, and implementation oversight
- Strong understanding of business continuity, operational risks, and cyber resilience
- Willingness to work on-site for five days per week initially
Nice-to-have
Not required, but a plus for your application.
- Experience with IT environments that are largely on-premises and only minimally cloud-based
- Knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements in the European banking sector
- Experience with transformation, restructuring, or change projects
