Project description
SAP Integration Architect / SAP Basis Expert (Senior, Focus on Legacy Systems)
An innovative technology company in the early stages of growth is seeking a proven SAP expert to provide functional and technical support for the development of a platform designed to accelerate SAP migrations. We are looking for a professional who has been successfully working with technical integrations, data extractions, and access to complex legacy SAP systems for many years—ideally for decades.
Responsibilities
- Analysis of existing SAP ECC environments with regard to programmatic data access and migration requirements
- Design and technical support for integrations between SAP ECC, SAP S/4HANA, and an external software platform
- Development and evaluation of suitable interfaces, communication channels, and technical extraction methods for legacy SAP systems
- Coordination with the client’s SAP Basis, security, and infrastructure teams
- Definition and implementation of the required authorizations, authentication procedures, and system activations
- Support in setting up and validating secure data access to SAP systems
- Assessment of technical risks and development of robust solutions for various client environments
- Advising the internal development team on SAP-specific architecture and integration issues
- Communicating directly with clients and independently clarifying complex technical requirements
- Translating insights into clear technical specifications, integration concepts, and actionable recommendations
Requirements
Must-have
These criteria are required for the project.
- Extensive, verifiable experience as an SAP Basis expert, SAP Technical Architect, or in a comparable senior role
- At least 15 years—ideally 20 years or more—of successful experience working with SAP integrations and legacy SAP systems
- Extensive experience with technical integrations, data exports, and access to SAP ECC
- In-depth knowledge of SAP ECC and a solid understanding of SAP S/4HANA
- Practical experience with SAP authorizations, authentication, system communication, and security requirements
- Experience collaborating with SAP Basis, infrastructure, and security teams
- Proven experience in SAP migration projects, particularly in the transition from ECC to S/4HANA
- Ability to independently analyze complex technical issues and develop robust solutions
- Excellent communication skills when interacting directly with customers and technical stakeholders
- Independent, structured, and responsible work ethic
Nice-to-have
Not required, but a plus for your application.
- Knowledge of relevant SAP interface technologies and integration patterns
- Experience in startup, product development, or pilot project environments
- Willingness to support a small development team both through consultation and hands-on work
- Very good English skills
