Project description

We are looking for an experienced Lead Consultant / Solution Architect for our client who can bridge the gap between production, controlling/accounting, and IT/data to develop a manageable, transparent forecast and a robust PoC revenue plan.

Responsibilities

  • Systematic identification of where and why forecast jumps and discrepancies between forecasts and actual postings occur (data quality, valuation logic, process timing, manual interventions)
  • Development of an end-to-end process for capturing, validating, and approving project progress in manufacturing and transferring it to forecast and revenue management
  • Design and prototypical implementation of a driver-based KPI and forecast model with automated data feed from the ERP system
  • Modeling of scenarios (e.g., schedule changes, prioritization changes, cost profile changes) with transparent explanations of the impacts on revenue and forecasts
  • Establishment of a systematic reconciliation between forecast versions (baseline/forecast/scenario) and actual postings, including EAC/ETC logic
  • Definition of roles/RACI, versioning logic, approval processes, change documentation, and reporting frequency (weekly/monthly/quarterly)
  • Consolidation of relevant data objects and KPI definitions into a consistent, auditable data model
  • Facilitation and integration of perspectives from Production, Controlling/Accounting, IT/BI, and Management in workshops and decision-making documents
  • Training for functional areas, documentation of the operating model, and sustainable handover to functional areas and IT

Requirements

Must-have

These criteria are required for the project.

  • SAP/ERP expertise in production and project order environments—in-depth understanding of data objects, process chains, and posting and valuation logic
  • PoC / Revenue Recognition in a Manufacturing Context: Experience with the Percentage-of-Completion method, progress measurement based on costs incurred, revenue/forecast logic, and reconciliation of forecasts versus actuals
  • Controlling & Finance Expertise for Production Environments: WIP/work-in-progress, cost progress, plan/actual variances, EAC/ETC methodology
  • Data & analytics expertise: Experience in data modeling, driver-based KPI frameworks, data quality management, and the development of forecast/scenario models
  • Strong facilitation and alignment skills at the intersection of Production ↔ Controlling ↔ IT ↔ Management
  • Structured, well-documented approach to work—suitable for decision-making and auditing, appropriate for a publicly traded environment with quarter-close and governance requirements
  • A hands-on approach to MVP and prototype development, combined with an architectural and leadership mindset
  • Strong communication skills: Ability to explain complex logic in an understandable way (“Why did the Q2 forecast change?”)

Nice-to-have

Not required, but a plus for your application.

  • Experience in project-based manufacturing / engineer-to-order with milestone- or work package-based progress tracking
  • Experience in a publicly traded environment (quarterly reporting, audit trail, internal controls)
